Southern-Inspired Deviled Eggs
"Deviled eggs already hold a special spot at the table, but when you fry them, that’s a whole new level of flavor. The crispy coating gives them that Southern comfort feel, and the creamy filling still brings that classic bite. These are one of those appetizers people don’t expect—but once they try them, they don’t forget them."
Ingredients

- For the Filling
Directions
- Place 6 large eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the eggs and place them in an ice bath to cool completely.
- Peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a bowl. Set the whites aside on a paper towel.
- Mash the yolks with 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Lightly season the egg whites with salt and pepper. Dredge each half in 1/2 cup of flour, dip into 2 beaten eggs, and coat with 1 cup of panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F and fry the egg whites for about 1–2 minutes per side, just until golden and crisp. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Once cooled slightly, pipe or spoon the yolk mixture back into each fried egg white. Sprinkle with a touch of paprika before serving.
Chef Moe’s Tip
"The trick is frying quick—just enough to crisp the coating without heating the whites too much. Always dry the egg whites before dredging, so the coating sticks better. If you want to add a little punch, mix in some finely chopped jalapeños or crumbled bacon into the yolk filling. It’s Southern comfort with a little attitude."
